1. iHealth Wireless Smart Gluco-Monitoring System for Apple and Android

Are you a tech-guru? Well, even if you aren’t this is my favorite blood glucose monitoring system out there right now. iHealth has come up with a way to check your blood sugar on the go with your Apple or Android.

Not only does this wireless device give you accurate readings no matter where you are but it keeps track of your data for you. Don’t remember what you last reading was? No problem! The iGluco app on your device remembers it all for you.

This is a great device for anyone that needs to keep in touch with their physician. The iGluco app allows you to share your data with your friends, family, and your doctor with ease. This helps alleviate stress for those who care for you by being able to show them how well you are doing.

So, the downfall? If you don’t have an Apple or Android, you have to get one. BUT- who doesn’t want one? I think I have mentioned before that my grandma loves her iPad- loves it! She is also 84 years old. Did it take a little time to get her used to it?  Of course, but now she couldn’t imagine life without it.

2. Freestyle Insulinx Testing Kit

The Freestyle Insulinx is my #2 pick because of it’s capabilities. It has an electronic logbook which is great for keeping records. I especially like this for the elderly who may forget their blood glucose levels.

Not only does it remember the test results, but the insulin doses as well. This is also a great feature in the case of a doctor’s visit or even ER visit. Being able to find that information, and fast, is crucial.

I really like that this blood glucose monitor has a pre and post meal marker. It also has an exercise feature. These are such important add ons to get accurate results.

What I don’t like about this testing kit is that it’s not quite as bright of a screen. If you  have diabetes and any eye issues that can come with it, it can be a bit challenging to read your results, which is dangerous.

Overall, I like this product and think it’s price is spot on for what you are getting!

3. FORA V30a Blood Glucose Monitoring System

This is an amazing buy in my opinion. I love the fact that it reads the number out loud to you. This is a great way to ensure that the elderly are getting their results right!

It also has a really small blood sample which makes it easier to manage when you are a diabetic. I like that it only takes 5 seconds to read as well.

The 4 daily alarm settings are huge in my book. It’s a great way to keep on top of your readings when no one is around to remind you.

I couldn’t find hardly any bad reviews on this blood glucose monitoring system! That should speak for itself.

Overall, the voice reading the level out is my top reason for picking this blood glucose monitoring system, but it’s accuracy and alarm features helped it along as well!

4. Active1st TrueTest Complete Diabetes Testing Kit

The Active1st TrueTest Complete Diabetes Testing Kit would be my second choice. Here’s why. If you aren’t a technology lover, and you do not want to get a smart phone or tablet, then this is your best bet. I really like that when you order this kit, it comes with everything you need to get going.

It contains: the true result meter, 100 test strips, 100 lancets, a lancing device, control solution, and a handy carry case to put everything in. This would be great for someone new to using a blood glucose monitoring system. It has all that you may need plus an instruction manual to help you get started.

It is really easy to use for all ages. It has accurate readings. Best of all- it comes at a great price.

The only issue I have seen with this type of system is that there have been reports of problems with the data log. It may be user induced, but if you are going to boast how easy it is to use, I would think that that wouldn’t be the case.

All in all, I think this is a great kit for those who do not like technology as much and want everything in one caboodle.

5. Accu-chek Blood Glucose Monitoring System

The AccuCheck Blood Glucose Monitoring System is my third favorite option. It’s compact and easy to carry around. While it doesn’t have the quality of the other two, I do still think it’s a great option.

Here’s what it does have. The backlit display makes it really easy to read. No getting your bifocals out for this device! It is customized system. It has 11 different depth settings for different skin types. It also is a 1-click of a 0.6 ulu sample size. What does that mean to you? Less blood. Less pain.

The only downfall I can find with this system is that the battery seems to die quickly. Meaning, there is a frequent need to replace it. Overall, I think it’s a handy little device for on the go.

The quick and simple answer? Most everyone in the room can answer that. You or someone you know has diabetes. So, this may seem like a no brainer or another hindrance. However, I’ll say those three magic words again- quality of life.
